Hoon Hay 50th Jubilee

By Evie Gilmour

On Saturday 24th October, Labour Weekend it was Hoon Hay School’s day to shine. There was dancing and singing to celebrate and welcome the students and principals of the past. There was also a Kapahaka performance and lots of other fun stuff to do.

Those attending the celebrations were overwhelmed by all the entertainment and by how much the school had changed since the last time they had seen it. Even Mr Voller who retired in term one, was surprised how much the school had changed.

"I was honoured to be one of the students and be part of this wonderful occasion" commented Brooke Fleck.
"I felt nervous before I performed in the kapa haka, but relieved afterwards that I had pleased everyone," says Te puwai O'Connell.
